Guest Reader

Today we had a special guest reader...our principal, Mrs. Craig! She read us the book, The Storybook Knight. It was exciting to hear how the knight saved the castle!  It had extra special meaning because our Washington school mascot is also a Knight! We hope Mrs. Craig will stop by again to read us more stories that will inspire us to write to our own stories in the future!

First Days of First Grade!

Welcome 2017-18 first graders and families! We are off to a new and enriching year in first grade!  I can hardly wait to find out more about my first grade class this year;their desires, goals, favorite books and interests! This year promises to be an exciting one with twenty fresh, shining faces all eager to find out what first grade is all about!
To start the year off we took photos of everyone to have a record of what everyone looked like on their first day,as they will change so much in just one year!

Then we visited the areas of the classroom and made some special projects together. It was a good time for the children to become familiar with their new classroom and visit with new and old friends!
One of first activities of the year is to make our annual puzzle picture frames.  Using their first day of first grade photos the children each made a picture frame decorated with colorful puzzle pieces! We talked about how we all fit together "like a puzzle" to make the perfect first grade class!
